Memorial Auditorium

Auditorium
The Wadena Memorial Auditorium was renovated back to its beautiful, original 1934 motif/décor, including the Native American design art-deco painting procenium, walls and lobby ceilings.  The remodeling also provided 735 new seats, curtains, lighting and sound systems, thrust stage and carpeted floor treatments.  New restrooms for the public, dressing rooms for the performing artists with restrooms, storage and stage construction rooms were also added. Most recently, air conditioning was installed to accommodate the warm summer months. A beautiful grand piano is also available upon request.

Wadena-Deer Creek High School drama department’s “One Act Play” performance, under the direction of WDC High School English Teacher Beth Hawkins, rehearses and performs in the auditorium.

The community theater group, “Madhatters,” perform and rehearse annually in the Auditorium, and many area performers participate in these events. They also provide a summer camp for students in the area interested in learning more about drama.

Other groups who frequently use the auditorium include the Wadena Concert Association, Community Concert Band, Miss Wadena Scholarship Pageant and other various piano and musical performers.

The auditorium is part of Wadena-Deer Creek Public School’s campus and is available for other interested artist performances or events. The facility may be scheduled by contacting Mary Fix
