Wadena-Deer Creek FFA recognized at National FFA Convention
The Wadena-Deer Creek FFA Chapter was recognized as a Two-Star National Chapter at the 91st National FFA Convention held in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The program recognizes outstanding FFA Chapters from throughout the country that actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization. These chapters improve chapter operations using the National Quality FFA Chapter Standards and a Program of Activities that emphasizes growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture. Chapters are rewarded for providing educational experiences for the entire membership. These honors were made possible by corporate sponsor, John Deere.
The Wadena-Deer Creek FFA Chapter received honors for their chapter’s “Program of Activities” followed up by the chapter’s actual activities. These activities included “College Tours,” “Garden to Kitchen” program, and “Business and Industry Tours.” In the Building Communities category were “Garden Shed Construction,” “FFA Day at the Capitol,” and “Cherry Pie Social.” In the Strengthening Agriculture category the chapter conducted “Children’s Pedal Pulls,” “Floats in Local Parades,” and “Ag Safety Day.” Earlier this year, the chapter was ranked within the top 17 FFA Chapters in National Chapter Applications at the Minnesota State FFA Convention to qualify for national competition.
“Feeding some 9 billion people by mid-century brings with it unprecedented challenges for today’s farmers,” said Amy Allen, manager, national manager, national corporate contributions for John Deere. “The skills and experiences learned through the National Chapter Award Program will help meet the critical needs.”
