Womenade donates $2,000 to WDC to support students in need
Thank you to the “Womenade Helping Hearts” for another generous gift to Wadena-Deer Creek Public Schools. WDC received a donation of $2,000, which will be put to good use for students in need.
WDC 5th Grade Teacher and former Womenade board member Lynn Quincer spoke to WDC staff about Womenade at the fall workshop, Aug. 25.
“Last school year, Womenade donated nearly $5,000 to Wadena-Deer Creek Schools. The funds were used in a number of ways to help individual students, such as snow boots, sports fees, tennis shoes, school supplies and more,” said Quincer, who presented Supt. Lee Westrum with the $2,000 check at the workshop.
Womenade was started 10 years ago and provides an anonymous and immediate source of funds available to students in five school districts: Battle Lake, Henning, New York Mills, Perham and WDC. Funds are provided to the school districts and may then be requested by any school staff who is aware of an individual student’s need. The need is met respecting the student’s dignity and privacy.
“This donation from Womenade means so much to so many students. All of us at WDC thank Womenade for the hard work that they do to help out our kids. You ladies are awesome!” said Mr. Westrum.
Womenade’s main sources of income are an annual golf tournament and donations from generous individuals. Womenade welcomes donations at any time throughout the year. Tax-deductible donations may be mailed to Womenade Helping Hearts Inc., PO Box 466, Perham, MN 56573
