WDC's BPA members participate in Regions, 7 qualify for state!
Wadena-Deer Creek’s chapter of Business Professionals of America (BPA) had eight members participate in the Region 6 contest on Jan. 28 at the M|State – Detroit Lakes campus.
More than 225 students from nine area schools participated in the competition. Contests were divided into six career clusters, and there were close to 50 different categories total.
The highlight of the day was junior Jessica Langer being elected as Region 6 secretary.
WDC students who placed in the top three qualified for state and they include: (* denotes advancing to state for that competition):
Jessica Langer – 2nd place for Advanced Interview Skills*; 2nd Management & Human Resources; and 3rd Administrative Support Concepts.

Danyel Post – 3rd Entrepreneurship*
Ashley Peters- 1st Keyboarding Production*; 5th Administrative Support Concepts; and 7th Fundamental Accounting;
Elise Kallevig - 1st Fundamental Word Processing*; 2nd Interview Skills*
Maddy Hinojos- 1st Legal Office Procedures*; 2nd Financial Math & Analysis*
Carrie Nelson - 3rd Legal Office Procedures*
Anna Kraemer - 7th Advanced Word Processing
Team and presentation events send the top three; all other events the top five are eligible to advance to state. State BPA competition is March 12 to 14 in Minneapolis. Nancy Peterson serves as WDC’s BPA advisor.
