Lions Poster winners announced
Congratulations to the following Wadena-Deer Creek sixth-graders who were recognized for their Lions Youth Outreach Posters:
- Emma Mehl and Teagan Roberts, Bluffton Lions first-place winner, “Food Allergies Awareness”
- Zach Shaw and Kade Woods, Deer Creek Lions first-place winner, “Stop All Wars, Start World Peace”
- Joslynn Judd and Kylie Matthews, Wadena Lions first-place winner, “No Life is Worth a Text”
Each first-place winner received a $25 cash prize from their sponsoring Lions Club and a $25 gift card from Lions District 5M9.
Other winners included: Nevada Schulz and Allyson Swenson, fourth place, $15 cash prize, for their “Bullying Free” poster; Ben Albright, fifth place, $10, for his “Don’t Drink and Drive” poster; and Katelyn Gardner, sixth place, $5, for her “Say No to Drugs” poster
The Bluffton, Deer Creek and Wadena Lions Clubs awarded poster winners their prizes on Jan. 23 at WDC Middle/High School. This year, students could partner with another student on designing a poster, according to Marge Harrison, poster contest coordinator, who was once again pleased with the number of students participating in this worthwhile program.
The posters were judged and displayed at the 5M9 Mid-Winter Convention in early January at Cragun’s near Brainerd.
