Mock drill involves WDC students, bus drivers and EMS crew
We hope this never becomes a reality.
On Saturday, April 12, a mock drill was held in the west parking lot of Tri-County Hospital (TCH), where a head-on collision took place between a vehicle and a school bus filled with children.
The exercise was to provide emergency medical training for TCH medical staff. WDC school bus drivers were there to observe, said Tim Wohlert, transportation director at WDC Schools.
"After the drill, there was time with the paramedics for Q & A, as well as to go through different scenarios," said Wohlert. "It was a good learning experience for us."
In addition to the Tri-County Hospital EMS crew, a local Cub Scouts troop and WDC students were the victims in the drill. Venture Crew 54 was also part of the training activities. Venture Crew is for young adults who are between the ages of 14 and 20 years old who are interested in the areas of health care, Emergency Medical Services or fire/police services.
Dr. John Pate coordinated the drill. He serves as TCH's EMS director. Photos were taken by Ann Pate.
