Another Foster Grandparent celebrates a birthday!
Foster Grandparent Phyllis Jackson was the third grandma to celebrate a birthday this week at WDC Schools! She will turn 84 years young on Sunday, April 13.
Grandma Phyllis has served as a volunteer at Little Kids Club for seven years now. She said she volunteers to stay busy and because she "loves to be around kids."
"I've babysat my own grandchildren for years. Being here is something I really enjoy doing. When these little ones come to me, it makes my day," said Grandma Phyllis.
She received a large homemade card from the children, a day lily and a beautiful cake to celebrate her special day.
"Thank you so much for making me feel special," said Grandma Phyllis in between tears.
All week long, volunteers are being honored at WDC Schools for their time, talents and skills they've given to the school during National Volunteer Week.
