Following the Iditarod
Wadena-Deer Creek fourth-grade students are tracking this year’s Iditarod sled-dog race. Pictured above are students Emma Ries, Garrett Baron and Ashley Lepinski standing next to a display that tracks the progress of the mushers. Known as the “Last Great Race on Earth,” students chose a team of dogs and their musher as they over more than 1,150 miles from Anchorage to Nome in 10 to 17 days. Students use graphs and maps to track their progress. Fourth-grade teachers are Jeff Mehl, Gena Sperling and Chelsey Weiss.
