WDC wears RED for heart disease
Wadena-Deer Creek High School staff left their Wolverine blue and gold apparel at home Friday, and instead wore red in honor of women’s heart disease.
For more than 10 years, the American Heart Association has sponsored “National Wear Red Day” to raise awareness in the fight against heart disease in women. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the United States, claiming more lives than all forms of cancer combined.
Besides wearing red, WDC staff was asked to make a donation of $5. WDC Middle/High School nurse Ashley Mumm, who organized the event, said donations collected on Friday will go toward WDC Elementary’s “Hoops for Heart” fundraiser this spring.
