Wadena artist shares talents with 6th-graders
Wadena artist Chuck Richards recently conducted a wire sculpture artist-in-residence with sixth-graders at Wadena-Deer Creek Middle/High School.
Students learned how to use wire tools to sculpt, bend and shape in this three-day residency. They created 3D fish sculptures out of colorful wire.
A retired art teacher, Richards has been teaching and sharing his talents with WDC students for over 30 years now.
“I just love working with kids and watching them create something,” said the spunky 78-year-old, who continues to create wire art and dabble in portrait and scenery painting. One of his murals is featured in the “Murals of Minnesota” series in downtown Wadena.
