BPA elects officers, plans community-service projects
Newly elected officers of the 2014-15 WDC Business Professionals of America (BPA) organization are Elise Kallevig as president, Anna Kraemer as vice president, Jessica Langer as secretary, and Carrie Nelson as public relations coordinator.
Other members of the BPA team include: Tabetha Baker, Maddy Hinojos, Marissa Jahnke, Kylie Lupkes, Ashley Peters and Matthew Quincer.
According to BPA Advisor Nancy Peterson, this year’s BPA theme is: “Dream, Imagine, Believe, BECOME.” Members will be focused on that theme as they prepare for the upcoming school year. Members are currently working on a Halloween Safety Project that will be presented to the WDC kindergarten classes.
Another excellent community-service project organized by BPA is the “Toys for Tots” drive in December. BPA members will be collecting toys for less-fortunate children, so the community is asked to support this project.
Then, BPA members begin the rigorous training for the regional competition on Jan. 28 in Detroit Lakes. Students prepare for and compete in contests in over 50 categories, under five topics of: Finance; Business Administration; Management Information Systems; Digital Communication and Design; and Management, Marketing and Communication. The top qualifiers compete at State BPA Conference, and finally, those deemed the best of the best compete at the National Leadership Conference in May in Anaheim, Calif.
The mission of Business Professionals of America is to contribute to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills.
