Defensive Driving for 55-Plus

Improve your driving skills, and if you’re 55 or older, get a discount on your personal auto insurance.
The Defensive Driving Course teaches basic crash prevention techniques and has a proven record of
reducing traffic violations and incidents. The class consists of lecture, videos and discussions. There is
no behind-the-wheel driving and there are no tests.

Full class:

This class is for those who have never taken a certified defensive driver class before. If you are 55 and over, Minnesota law requires insurance companies to offer a 10-percent reduction for three years. To receive the reduction, you will need to complete a certified defensive driving course taught by a certified instructor. You will receive a certificate of completion to give to your insurance company. This is an 8-hour class.
Date: Tuesday, March 11 and Wednesday, March 12
Times: 5:30–9:30pm

Cost: $25 (includes materials)

Refresher:

This class is for those who need only the Certified Defensive Driver Refresher class. If you have already taken the 55+ course, you can renew your 10%, three-year insurance discount by taking this state-approved class. Completion certificate given at the end of class.

Senior LinkAge Line – How can it help me?

Senior Linkage Line is a resource for Minnesota Seniors that is as close as your phone. Come learn about the Minnesota Help Network that includes Disability Linkage, Veteran Linkage and Senior Linkage Lines. The presentation will also include information on Medicare Fraud and how to protect yourself and your Medicare. Presenter is Mary Anderson, a Senior Advocate who serves Cass, Crow Wing and Wadena Counties.

New to Medicare?

This class is for people recently on or soon to be on Medicare. We will cover the basics of Medicare, including Part A, Part B, Part C and Part D enrollment periods, as well as things to consider when choosing a plan. This is a 2-hour presentation by the Senior Linkage Line, a service of Central MN Council on Aging and the Minnesota Board on Aging. All materials will be provided. You must pre-register to assure getting all materials.
