ICE CREAM FOR BOOKS A GREAT SUCCESS The Title I Teaching Staff of Lynda Wosmek, Judy Carlson, Pam Hanson and Shirley Luttrell had a very successful evening for their new school event "Ice Cream for Books". Students were invited to bring in gently used books for points then trade them in on brand new books. The November 6th evening at Wadena Elementary was filled with bingo, storytelling, book shopping and ice cream eating. The attendance was approximately 300 students plus their parents! The event was very well organized and supported by WDC staff volunteers.

Statue of Liberty
Sixth Graders are learning about the Statue of Liberty and the symbolism that accompanies her. Did you ever wonder why in the 1800's a woman was chosen to represent freedom and hope rather than a man? Why are there seven spikes on the statue's crown? What is written on the table she holds in her left hand? These are the questions any 6th grader can answer after learning through their reading class. Mrs. Grendahl, Instructor |
