Homecoming Week is here!

Wadena-Deer Creek’s most anticipated event in the fall is Homecoming! This year’s Homecoming week is Sept. 24 to 28 and is always a super-fun week of activities!

Wadena-Deer Creek is proud to announce this year's 2018 HOMECOMING CANDIDATES! Queen candidates are Ashley Adams, Sophia Kreklau, Abby Motschenbacher, MacKenzie Salge and McKenna Wangsness.King candidates are Cade Kapphahn, Max Phillips, Colby Schertler, Alex Snyder and Steven Thomas.

An array of activities will take place during WDC's Homecoming Week, Sept. 24 to 28, including dress-up days for students and staff, PowderPuff football, pep fests, and more!

Friday will feature the Coronation at 10:20 a.m. in the WDC Middle/High School Gym. On Friday afternoon, the traditional Homecoming Parade will begin at 2 p.m. This year's theme is "Pummel Pelican Rapids!"

Show your Wolverine spirit by wearing Blue and Gold when the WDC football team hosts Pelican Rapids at 7 p.m. at the WDC High School football field. The Wadena Lions is hosting their Burger Bash from 5 to 7 p.m. at the field and WDC is very excited and honored to introduce the 2018 Hall of Fame inductees during halftime of the football game.

Dress-Up Days - Grades 5-12:

  • Wednesday: Color Day - 5th- pink, 6th- purple, 7th- orange, 8th- green, Freshmen- yellow, Sophomores- red, Juniors-blue, Seniors- black, Staff- camo/white.

  • Thursday: America Day

  • Friday: School Spirit Day

Dress-Up Days- PreK-4:

  • Wednesday - Camo/Hunting Day (no weapons allowed)

  • Thursday Color Day (PreK – orange, K – blue, 1 – yellow, 2 – red, 3 – green, 4 – purple, staff – pink)

  • Friday Spirit Day

2-HOUR LATE START, SEPT. 28: WDC will begin two hours late on Friday, Sept. 28 in order for teachers to participate in a workshop. Late-start activities are available for students in K-6 at the elementary. Late-start registration slips went home with students. Must be signed up by Sept. 27. Sponsored by WDC Community Education.

PRINCESS WARRIOR 5K, SEPT. 29: Please support Jane's Princess Warrior walk/run on Saturday, Sept. 29. This annual 5K brings awareness to childhood cancer as well as benefits area families dealing with childhood cancer. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. The race begins at 10 a.m., with participants starting Tapley Park (617 Lincoln Ave. SW), then winding their way around southwest Wadena back to the park. MONSTER RUN, OCT. 27: The WDC Track and Field Team is hosting their 5th annual Monster Run on Saturday, October 27. All proceeds from this event go directly to the track team. SAM KELDERMAN ENGINE RAFFLE: Wadena-Deer Creek Middle/High School office has tickets available for the Sam Kelderman Technology & Engineering Scholarship raffle. There is an amazing story behind this awesome GM marine motor being raffled, which took 1 1/2 years to build by WDC students Brady Adams and Chris Hahn with guidance from WDC teacher Mike Shrode. For more details on the motor, call Mike Shrode at (320) 815-7886. The Wadena Elks Lodge is also helping sell tickets, which are $20 each. Winner will be drawn on Nov. 19, 2018 and need not be present to win. Please support this worthwhile project in memory of Sam Kelderman!
